pretty girls on the microphone make a triumphant return. featuring some delicious retro-rock courtesy of the asteroids galaxy tour — a band that everyone will be listening to when summer hits — and lucky soul. marina and the diamonds is led by the operatic stylings of a welsh girl on top of infectious piano pop. a song by vampire weekend reminds me of the kind of girls i like to date. and get busy committee rips the beat off of the knife’s heartbeats to make one of the smoothest sounding hip hop tracks in recent memory. last but not least, one of the greatest covers in recorded music history ends this tape. the electronic duo honeyroot does an incredibly soulful and heartbreaking cover of joy division’s love will tear us apart. this reaffirms my opinion that the song should have originally been recorded as a ballad.
